Advantages of the Cutting Hoe Ida

cutting hoe ida salad

The Cutting Hoe Ida is a versatile tool

Discover its multiple uses for gardening tasks like hoeing, soil loosening, mowing, raking, sowing, weeding, and preparing new beds on uncultivated areas. This multupurpose tool will impress you!

precise hoeing

Effortless and 'surgically precise' hoeing

The basic working width of the Cutting Hoe Ida is 12.5 cm (horizontal position). If you turn the tool vertically (as shown in the picture), its working width is 2.5 cm, enabling precise operations among vegetables—a gardener's dream come true!

pulling back the cutting hoe

Pull the Cutting Hoe Ida backward in the direction of soil cultivation

Loosen the cultivated soil every 14 days or after heavy rain (when the soil doesn't stick to the tool). Your vegetables will thank you 😉 It will also improve water retention, as the water doesn't run off from loose soil.

quickly prepare new garden beds

The perfect solution for preparing new garden beds

Create a smaller garden bed in just 20 minutes! Easily remove grass with its roots by shallowly hoeing the surface and then cutting it diagonally. Simply level the bed, and you're ready to start planting.

prepare the soil for planting

For 'blind sowing' and prepping garden beds

Use the tool's edge to create shallow rows for sowing radishes, red beets, kohlrabi, and other vegetables. Also, mark medium-deep furrows for planting onions, garlic, lettuce, and other plants.

breaking up clumps of soil with the tool

For breaking up clods of soil

Crush smaller and medium-sized clods of soil. Use the back (blunt) part to hit the clods, causing them to break apart.

quick cleaning of overgrown areas with the cutting hoe ida

Quickly clear highly overgrown areas

Did you know that the Cutting Hoe Ida can double as a short 'scythe'? When you are done cutting, use the tool's edge to 'rake' organic debris off the surface and dispose of it in the compost pile.

This position is perfect for hoeing around lettuce, radish, cabbage, tomato, ornamental plants, raspberries, edging, stones, and near the base of trees or vines.

cutting hoe vertical position

Vertical position (2.5 cm) for surgically precise hoeing

Frequently asked questions

A few answers to your most common questions.

A universal wooden handle is not included in the product. You should use the standard handle for rakes, measuring 150 x 2.4 cm. The handle is available at any well-stocked agricultural store.
If there are no sharp or large rocks in the soil, you can use the Cutting Hoe Ida. Its blade is made of high-quality, heat-treated steel, which is resistant to mechanical damage.

When and if the blade becomes dull, sharpen it again with a file for iron or metal.
Fear of damaging roots is unnecessary when using the tool in a vertical position and hoeing shallowly. This allows you to remove weeds close to the roots and facilitates hoeing and loosening the soil in challenging areas.

With the Cutting Hoe Ida, you can effortlessly hoe at a distance of 3 to 5 cm between plants, as it enables 'surgically precise' hoeing.

For plants spaced more than 15 cm apart, you won't cause damage if you use the tool in a horizontal position, as this is the most common position used in the garden.
The Cutting Hoe Ida is also useful for fruit and ornamental gardens. The tool is versatile and can be used wherever precise operations are required in the garden.
On hard clayey soil always hoe after rainfall, when the soil is easiest to work with. Wait for the soil to become suitable for work so it crumbles nicely.

During the summer, you can achieve optimal soil moisture by thoroughly watering the soil in the evening and starting hoeing and loosening in the morning.

If the heavy clayey soil is too wet, wait for it to dry slightly and work when the soil doesn't stick to the tool and footwear.
The Cutting Hoe Ida should not be sharpened with an angle grinder or 'flex.' Only a hand file for iron and metal is suitable for sharpening. Otherwise, the metal may overheat and the blade might lose its mechanical resistance to damage.

How to assemble the tool?

Firmly attach Cutting Hoe Ida to the rake handle and secure it with a screw.
